Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing and busy IT Team as an IT Support Engineer, primarily supporting our London Academies but it would also support colleagues across LCG. The successful candidate must be proactive and able to work under their own initiative as they will be expected to manage their own workload with minimal supervision. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference and ensure our learners have the best possible experience whilst studying with LCG.

Key Responsibilities

DUTIES                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
  • Prioritising, under the guidance of the Head of IT, calls for the Service Desk
  • Responsible for the smooth running of computer systems and IT services to ensure our customers have a positive experience with IT at LCG
  • Installing/Configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
  • Supporting customers, face-to-face, on Teams, by email, or over the telephone, to help set up systems or resolve issues
  • Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
  • Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
  • Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
  • Supporting the roll-out of new applications
  • Setting up new user accounts and profiles and supporting with password issues
  • Establish a good working relationship with customers and external suppliers
  • Installing/Setup of the Telephones/Mobile Phone including diagnostics
  • Escalate any issues or concerns to the Head of IT
  • Travel between LCG sites, primarily in London, to support users and resolve any issues
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with experience of 1st/2nd line support
  • Knowledge of Servers/Networks/Firewalls/Laptops
  • Able to work to deadlines and manage own workload
  • Experience of the Microsoft 365 applications and the administration of these
  • Experience of working with Active Directory
  • A passion for technology and with a willingness to continually upskill in this area
  • Able to think and plan ahead
  • Solutions focused
  • Able to work in team and under own initiative
  • IT related Qualification or equivalent experience
  • Happy and able to travel across our LCG London sites 
DESIRABLE CRITERIA                                                                                                                         
  • Knowledge of ITIL or an ITIL qualification
  • Experience of working with Azure
