The London Hairdressing Apprenticeship Academy, now part of the Learning Curve Group, are recruiting for a part-time Barbering Tutor to support learners in our state of the art academy in Croydon. This is a permanent opportunity working Monday and Wednesday evenings, delivering to one cohort of learners two evenings a week. Croydon opened in September 2017 and has 2 salons totalling 42 hairdressing columns and two fully equipped training room for the delivery of hairdressing and barbering theory. Many of our staff at Croydon are Rush Hair trained and are highly skilled and talented hairdressers and barbers and have a passion for hairdressing.

Key Responsibilities

Pulling on your own expertise, you will be responsible for delivering and assessing the Barbering NVQ and Barbering Diploma programmes to LHAA Apprenticeship and Adult learners. By placing them at the centre of everything you do, you will help them succeed and achieve outstanding learning and assessment outcomes.

Teaching and assessments
•    Plan and deliver a training programme that ensures robust ILP, adheres to LHAA’s scheme of work and the Education inspection framework standards
•    Ensure that apprenticeship standard requirements, including functional skills are met, ensuring learner progress is effectively reviewed and tracked to ensure timely and overall completion
•    Ensure learner readiness for end point assessment (EPA) and set SMART targets on action plans to support them to achieve 
•    Support employers in understanding their responsibility relating to on and off the job training 
•    Ensure all learner records and reporting is kept up to date and provided in a timely manner to support management reporting and audit requirements
•    Undertake assessment, portfolio evidencing and tracking of achievement using the LHAA e-portfolio and tracking systems
•    Where applicable, generate teaching and learning resources as required or use the LHAA resources
•    Provide robust and impartial information, advice, and guidance to learners throughout their learner journey including exit advise in relation to employment opportunities 

Quality Assurance
•    Participate in LHAA quality assurance activities working closely with the quality team. 
•    Ensure CPD is planned and reflects Company and stakeholder requirements as guided by the 
•    quality team
•    Manage learner feedback through learner surveys as per LHAA requirements and achieve overall 95% learner satisfaction
•    Liaise with the Head of Teaching and Learning, Lead IQA regarding audit and compliance of reviews, ILPs and shared resources
•    Follow up learner absences and ensure timely communication with employers on learners’ absences, progress, and achievement

Essential Criteria
  • Educated to Level 2 or above in Mathematics & English
  • Assessor qualified, A1, TAQA, CAVA, or D32, D33
  • Recognised teaching or training qualification at level 3 or above
  • Level 2 & 3 qualifications in Barbering
  • Experience within an Assessor / trainer or teaching role working with learners of all ages for a minimum of 1 year
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of e-portfolios
  • Ability to work independently whilst contributing as an effective team member
