Introduction

The role of a Painting and Decorating/Multi skill tutor is to support learners of all ages Monday to Friday, focussing on the studies of Painting and decorating Level 1 to Level 3 and Construction Multi skills entry level to Level 1. Working in both a classroom environment and through online remote delivery, you will be expected to facilitate the effective and efficient learning and assessment for study programme, unemployed and apprentice learners undergoing Construction and related courses.

Key Responsibilities


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Be able to deliver Painting and decorating diplomas, Multi skills courses and Apprentischips qualifications level 1 up to level 3
  • Undertake scheduled teaching/training and assessments to a high standard
  • Plan and prepare lessons
  • Teach large and small groups of learners from a range of backgrounds, abilities and ages
  • monitor, assess and mark students' work
  • Undertake on site assessments 
  • Undertake relevant course development and research in collaboration with the Academy Manager
  • Monitor and control course information
  • Co-ordinate the designated curriculum including tutorial/pastoral activities
  • Co-ordinate all activities associated with the learning journey including but not limited to induction, target setting and progress reviews
  • Undertake marketing and promotional activities
  • Co-ordinate course timetables and associated staffing
  • Undertake student admissions, recruitment, advice and guidance
  • Arrange registration and certification process
  • Manage student discipline and standards
  • Management and supervision of student visits
  • Undertake internal verification as required
  • Prepare high quality learning materials and student assignments
  • Achieve course and individual targets and KPI’s
  • Carry out reasonable appropriate administration duties
  • Carry out any additional duties as required
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Candidates must hold qualifications in designated skills as required by the Awarding Body
  • Candidates must hold a relevant teaching qualifications AET, CET or CERT Ed in Education or equivalent
  • Candidate must hold Assessor Award or willing to work towards
  • Successful candidate must have industrial experience in the designated skills. It would be an advantage if candidates had a wide range of construction industry skills.
  • Knowledge of online learning platforms 
The chosen candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to lead and develop the curriculum, sound communications skills and the ability to work with people of all ages and capabilities is essential. This role requires high levels of organisational skill and the ability to work independently.
