Key Responsibilities

Main Purpose of the Post:                                             
                                                                                       
  • Preparing and leading SEN training for delivery staff across the business
  • Working with delivery staff to provide suitable resources and equipment to support learners with SEN
  • Supporting staff to provide 1-1 support to students with learning difficulties
  • Providing referrals for learners to receive support outside of learning, to a variety of external agencies
  • Assessing the specific educational needs for learners between the ages of 16 – 18 year with learning difficulties and providing recommendations for their support
  • Working with delivery staff to help identify the signs of any hidden learning difficulties or barriers
  • Working with curriculum teams and wider support services to ensure equal opportunities for learners with SEN

DUTIES
 
  • Being the first point of contact for delivery staff, and supporting them to overcome any barriers in learning with regards to SEN
  • Providing reports and insightful information in regards to learners between the ages of 16 – 18, and the SEN that they are experiencing and the support that has been put in place to aid their learning journey
  • Provide learners, customers and colleagues with support, advice guidance as part of your everyday role
  • Conduct your role in line with the company values and expected behaviours

  • Comply with the Safeguarding, Prevent and Health and Safety Policies and be vigilant to potential concerns and risks at all times
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism at all times.


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

SENCO Qualification/ALN Qualification
Recognised teaching qualification at L3 or above
You will have experience of working as a SENCO previously
Have reference-able, appropriate SENCO experience within the last 2 years
Experience in leading on SEND
Experience in reviewing and working with EHCPs and Local Authorities
Proven ability to support a staff member on working on SEN / ALN
Work well as part of a team
Be forward thinking and have initiative to introduce new ideas and ways of working
Experience in using Microsoft Office and other relevant IT packages
