Employers

I am an employer, looking to improve the skills and qualifications of my staff to boost my business - how can Learning Curve Group support me?

We support thousands of UK employers through the wide provision of apprenticeships, short vocational courses and bespoke training. Our provision gives employees the skills that can power any business, while helping them feel valued and part of a company committed to their professional well-being. Our apprenticeships are in professions including business, management, health and social care, and manufacturing. Vocational courses include those in health and social care, business and personal development. Our bespoke training covers a broad spectrum of mainly health and social care topics, including end of life care, equality and diversity, and nutrition and health, but there are other topics to meet the specific individual needs of employers in many sectors.

How does Learning Curve Group's specialist recruitment and learner find service support employees and employers?

Our recruitment and learner find services allow us to match jobseekers or those looking for new career opportunities with employers, while allowing employers to access temporary and permanent recruitment services. We have the internal capacity to find learners suitable to gain valuable qualifications through our extensive range of training programmes, and we engage directly with employers to help them find learners and future employees for specific jobs. These services create a clear link between skills development and employment – a fundamental strand of the Government’s new education direction.

How does Learning Curve Group access funding for my employees?

We work closely with the Department for Education, which means we can offer most of our courses fully funded, subject to learner eligibility. Each year, the Government sets objectives for skills in England and allocates part of its budget to those areas. You must be a registered training provider to access this funding.

What other services does Learning Curve Group supply?

We provide a Consultancy and Interim Services offer, which supports our FE partners with a one-stop shop for all their needs. Using our in-house expertise, alongside leading Further Education specialist Beej Kaczmarczyk and carefully selected associates, we supply FE providers with high-quality strategic and operational support and the latest updates on key funding changes. Our offer includes staff training, consultancy and interim management in a range of areas, including leadership and management, governance, curriculum and planning, funding methodology, quality and inspection, finance, MIS, audit, and further staff development. We also specialise in employer engagement, including helping providers with referrals of apprentices and stand-alone VRQs. We offer guidance on funding priorities and can provide key analysis and tracking of learners.

Learners

I am an employee, looking to improve my skills in the workplace through new learning and qualifications - how can Learning Curve Group help me achieve my goals?

We offer an extensive range of easily accessible, nationally accredited courses that have been created to help thousands of people each year to improve their career and life prospects through training and learning. They are flexible in design, which means they allow for learning to happen at a time and place suitable for each individual learner, be it in the workplace or at home. Market-leading and nationally accredited, they include short vocational courses that can be completed in a number of weeks, and apprenticeships which last a minimum of a year. If successfully completed, they leave a beneficial personal legacy that can last a lifetime. Courses available include health and social care – which are the most comprehensive in the country – as well as business administration, engineering, team leading, management and leadership, and personal development. Our courses tie in to essential knowledge and skills required to carry out certain job roles, and are an excellent way of learning, bringing a host of benefits to staff members.

I am unemployed and want to learn new skills to get into employment - what support can Learning Curve Group give me?

There are many things we can do to help you learn new skills and get back into employment. We operate a number of academies throughout the country that teach unemployed people a new trade and support them into work. Construction Academies in Middlesbrough and Sunderland teach a range of construction skills including painting and decorating, bricklaying and plastering, as well as administration, retail, and business. We also operate three Military Academies in Yorkshire – in Leeds, Sheffield and Wakefield – that prepare you for the Armed Forces or to work in security. Our Beauty Academies are located in Sunderland, Stockton, Seaham, Gateshead and Bradford, and they provide courses in a range of disciplines, from nail technology and beauty therapy to hair and make-up. These courses, and many other Level 3 qualifications, are available through an Advanced Learner Loan that doesn't need to be re-paid until you are earning over £25,000 a year. We also have very close links to community venues like the Job Centre Plus, as well as employers, to create bespoke training courses that end in a guaranteed interview for work, and we even recruit apprentices for businesses that have identified a skills gap in their work force.

How long do your courses take to complete?

We specialise in many types of learning, with courses lasting from a few weeks to a year. Our short courses are flexible by name and flexible by nature. They are designed to allow learners to fit their learning around their employment obligations and can be completed in a number of weeks or months, depending on the level. Each level of an apprenticeship typically takes 12 months to complete, as do some of our Academy courses.

Where does learning for your courses take place?

We have solutions for all requirements. Our short courses are perfect for those who prefer to work from home. Apprenticeships are typically completed in the workplace, alongside your regular duties, and Academy learning typically takes place at our specialist centres, although those taking our Military training can expect to undertake off-site, hands-on instruction at outdoor locations.

How do your courses fit into my work and life balance?

We have developed a wide range of market-leading short courses and apprenticeships which are highly flexible in their design. They allow learners to fit their studies around their working hours and home life by using either high-quality online or paper learning materials. We employ over 430 highly skilled and qualified associate tutors to directly support learners in the workplace through regular scheduled visits, and we also provide high-quality online support. This includes through our market-leading online assessment platform, e-Assessor, which has supported thousands of learners to achieve their qualification and is endorsed by all of our awarding body partners. It helps the learner complete their whole course online.

Are your courses recognised by employers?

All of our courses are accredited by UK government-recognised awarding bodies. These include NCFE CACHE, with whom we work closely to ensure our existing courses, and all new ones, meet approved standards of excellence and are certified as such. NCFE CACHE is a national awarding organisation which designs, develops and certifies nationally recognised qualifications and awards.

How does Learning Curve Group access funding that allows me to take my course?

We work closely with the Department for Education, which means we can offer most of our courses fully funded, subject to learner eligibility. Each year, the Government sets objectives for skills in England and allocates part of its budget to those areas. You must be a registered training provider to access this funding. However, we also support learners to access 19+ Advanced Learner Loans. The amount available depends on the course, course fee, and maximum amounts set by the Government. The minimum loan amount is £300. A maximum of four 19+ Advanced Learner Loans can be taken for non A Level courses, but only one at a time and not for the same course. The loan must be paid back, plus interest, if the learner leaves or changes their course after two weeks or more. More information is available at www.gov.uk/advancedlearningloans. Impartial advice on 19+ Advanced Learner Loans is available from the Money Advice Service at moneyadviceservice.org.uk.
