Course Content

To achieve this qualification, you will complete the following mandatory units, and then either the lead or dementia pathway. 

Mandatory Units: 

  • Promote communication in care settings
  • Promote effective handling of information in care settings 
  • Promote personal development in care settings 
  • Promote person-centred approaches in care settings
  • Promote equality and inclusion in care settings 
  • Promote health, safety and well-being in care settings 
  • Responsibilities of a care worker
  • Duty of care in care settings 
  • Safeguarding and protection in care settings

Lead Pathway:

  • Lead an effective team
  • Contribute to quality assurance in adult care
  • Personal and professional behaviour in adult care
  • Facilitate person-centred assessment, planning, implementation and review 
  • Understand advance care planning 
  • Administer medication to individuals and monitor the effects 
  • Undertake research in adult care

Dementia Pathway:

  • Provide support to individuals with dementia
  • Support person-centred thinking, planning and review
  • Promote nutrition and hydration in adult care settings 
  • Administer medication to individuals and monitor the effects 
  • Promote continence management
  • Principles of advocacy
  • Support independence in the tasks of daily living


Eligibility

Study this course with no course fees!

From 1st April 2021, anyone aged 19+ who wants to achieve their first full level 3 qualification, which is equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or 2 full A levels, may be able to sign up to a fully-funded course.

  • Currently live in England
  • Resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study

Not eligible for funding?

Fund your qualification with an Advanced Learner Loan with nothing to pay until you earn over £27k a year.  If you are not eligible for a free course through government funding, you can still gain a qualification to further your career with the help of an advanced learner loan. Work Placement

Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement. During placement, learners will need support from a professional within the real work environment who will be required to complete professional development records. You will be given access to our online eLearning Platform to complete your assignments, alongside a specialist tutor who can support you throughout your qualification.
