Course Overview

If you're fascinated by human thoughts and behaviours, and would like to start a career in one of the psychology-related disciplines, the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Psychology) is a level 3 qualification designed to prepare you to study for a Psychology degree. If you don’t have the grades you need to apply for university, an Access to HE Diploma will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need.

This course is specifically designed to put you on the pathway to study a degree in Psychology. You'll learn core knowledge that will prepare you for your degree including child development, the brain and nervous system, and forensic psychology. After completion of this course, you could progress onto university to study a range of psychology-related degrees, such as Psychology, Criminology, or Counselling.

Our Access to Higher Education Diplomas have some entry requirements you will need to meet: 
    • You will need to be 19 or over at the start of your course
    • You will need a Level 2 Maths and English qualification (GCSE or equivalent, including Level 2 qualifications achieved outside of England) - copies of your certificates will be requested as part of the enrolment process
    • Full use of a laptop
    • Access to the internet

Applicants are normally required to hold a minimum of two Level 2 qualifications or higher. However, we may be able to consider applicants who hold an English qualification alone. Support with Functional Skills in English and/or Maths can be provided during the Access to HE course if required.

As part of our enrolment process, you will need to complete a telephone interview and a written assessment which will ensure that the course is the right level for you. 

Meeting entry requirements for University: 

Most students choose to complete an Access to Higher Education Diploma as part of a longer-term aim of progressing to university.

Whilst your tutors are there to support and guide individual applications, it is your responsibility to research the specific entry requirements for your chosen course at the university that you wish to progress onto.

An Access to HE Diploma is made up of units that offer 45 graded credits and 15 ungraded credits. You will complete a number of assignments as part of your modules that will form your electronic portfolio. You will be assessed via formal written assignments, that will create a portfolio of work.

Throughout your course, you'll be expected to join live online classes, as well as study independently. You'll have the support of one of our specialist tutors throughout your programme. 

Access courses are designed for people who have been out of education for some time - so they're the perfect option if you left school without the qualifications you'd need to go straight to university. They provide you with a good level of knowledge and skills so that you feel prepared to start a degree. Whether you're a career changer, have been out of employment and education for some time, or you're looking to pursue a subject you're passionate about - an Access to HE course could be the right option for you. 

Yes - this course is accredited by AIM Group. On completion of the course, learners will receive a national qualification which is accepted as an entry requirement for many universities across England and Wales. 

These courses are designed to be studied part-time, over 47 weeks. Our Access to HE courses are delivered to mirror university timetables, with studies completed in grouped terms known as modules.

Our Access to HE Diplomas are delivered online - making learning accessible, so you can study anywhere. You’ll have access to our online platform, where you can learn independently, build knowledge, and complete interactive sessions which embed your learning. 

Studying online doesn't mean you're on your own! You'll have full support of our expert tutors and engagement support team, who are on hand throughout your course. 

As this is an online course, you will need access to a laptop or PC to complete your diploma.
