Course overview
The Operations Manager programme is designed for aspiring professionals in the business sector who aim to excel in leading teams and managing projects effectively. This comprehensive course equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to oversee complex operational processes, ensuring that organisational objectives are met efficiently and sustainably.
Throughout the programme, participants will develop strong leadership and interpersonal skills, learning how to build productive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients. The course also focuses on strategic resource planning, enabling operations managers to allocate and optimise resources effectively in dynamic business environments. Ethical practice, compliance with legal standards, and sustainability are key components embedded throughout the training.
Learners will gain the ability to adapt to changing circumstances by mastering problem-solving, decision-making, and uncertainty management techniques. By the end of the apprenticeship, participants will be well-equipped to lead high-performing teams, manage critical projects, and contribute to their organisation’s strategic goals while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and responsible business practice.
The learner journey
1. 19 months on-programme – This is when the individual will learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours which will support them for their End-Point Assessment. The learner could partake in a combination of activities, such as classroom based sessions, mentoring, shadowing, bespoke resources and off-site visits in order to support their learning and development.
From 1 August 2025, apprentices must complete at least 187 hours of off-the-job (OTJ) training over a minimum of 8 months, with some standards requiring more for those without prior learning. Learn more about OTJ training hours.
2. Gateway – After the 19 months teaching and learning, you, your training provider and the learner will review the learners journey and decide whether it is the right time for the on-programme assessment.
3. End-Point Assessment – This is when your learner will need to demonstrate they have learnt the required knowledge, skills and behaviours, through an on demand knowledge test, a professional discussion, practical observation and business project.
