A County Durham training provider has launched their own charity foundation to help transform lives across the region.

Learning Curve Group, based in Spennymoor, have raised over £50,000 in the past four years through the fundraising efforts of their staff and clients.

They previously chose a ‘charity of the year’ to raise funds for, but have launched their own foundation to allow them to support multiple charities throughout the year.

The new foundation, in partnership with the County Durham Community Foundation, will allow charities, individuals and social enterprises to apply for funds and grants raised by the dedicated staff at Learning Curve Group.

Chief Executive at Learning Curve Group, Brenda McLeish, said: “We’re delighted to finally be launching our Learning Curve Group Charity Foundation. Our staff are committed to raising money throughout the year for causes that we are passionate about, and this will allow us to support multiple charities in line with our business values.

“As our business has continued to grow, we thought it was important to give back to communities and charities, and our new foundation will allow us to do just that. We can’t wait to kick off the fundraising and raise money that will hopefully transform lives across the region.”

The foundation is hoping to raise money for charities and social enterprises that match Learning Curve Group’s values; supporting causes that alleviate poverty, tackle underemployment and develop skills.

Michelle Cooper, Chief Executive at County Durham Community Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Learning Curve Group, they’re an example of a rapidly growing company that is demonstrating a wide range of engagement with local communities that they work in.

“As a foundation, it’s important for us to work with companies that share our vision of supporting individuals to access a better future, we’re excited to see the partnership develop.”

Staff at Learning Curve Group will continue to raise funds through their annual charity ball, weekly dress down Friday, and other events such as bake sales, sponsored runs, and skydives.
