With over 30 years’ experience, gained in some of the world's largest and most successful recruitment agencies, HR consultancies and training providers, I have acquired a deep expertise within the world of work. Operating at Board level with full P&L responsibility, I have supported thousands of individuals into employment through starting and building successful multi-disciplinary training and recruitment businesses with defined employer engagement strategies in both specialist and volume markets, within both the private and public sector.
At Learning Curve Group (LCG), our mission is to transform lives through learning. LCG is one of the largest and most diverse training providers in the country. We give people the relevant training and education that employers desire, and support our learners into employment after studying with us. We work closely with employers across the country to tailor our courses and training programmes to meet the skills shortages that they are experiencing within their workforces.
LCG and the IEP have many shared values, both organisations aim to empower individuals to gain new knowledge and skills to help them into employment. We also focus on the continuous improvement of our provision to ensure we are providing our learners with the highest quality education. So, it is very fitting for LCG and the IEP to work together to champion employability.
I believe that the reason I am driven to transform lives through learning is due to my early experience in the recruitment sector. That time of my career really showed me the importance of learning and development to better yourself and secure employment and make progress in role. Learning new skills has helped me to progress and change sectors, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.
I wanted to become a Fellow at the IEP as I believe from my experience that the employability sector also involves skills, recruitment and up-skilling. The IEP is perceived to focus on employability and I want to help close the gaps to bring together those wider sectors of skills and recruitment. I have experience in working in all of these sectors and I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with other professionals.
Becoming Commercial Director at Learning Curve Group was undoubtedly a pinnacle moment in my career as I have seen first hand the full breadth of support that we can give to both unemployed and employed individuals through our many provisions - employability, academies, apprenticeships, skills, traineeships, kickstart and bootcamps. There are endless ways that we can help so many people make positive changes in their lives to work towards a fulfilled career.
Since becoming a Fellow of the IEP I am most looking forward to supporting the further professionalisation of the whole sector. Being a Fellow will give me a platform to showcase the importance of the wider employability sector and the work we do everyday to support individuals into work.
